As of November 12th, ARTIUM offers a new presentation entitled COLECCIÓN II. This exhibition is a selection of art pieces chosen out of the museum's collection. After the first inaugural exhibition which presented a wide chronological display about the Spanish contemporary art movement from its beginning till present day, ARTIUM now offers a second presentation which narrows down the art pieces in display to those that belong to the period ranging from 1960 till present day. Atrium's permanent collection is in continuous expansion, thus being able to adopt different shapes and express different discourses. Therefore, the museum feels the obligation to offer different presentations, which allow visitors to establish diverse relationships, analyses and interpretations.

ARTIUM, Basque Centre-Museum of Contemporary Art, presents the chamber exhibition “CVA. Juan Luis Moraza and Marisa Fernández” (North Gallery, until January 9), which is included within the exhibition “The Collection in Context” as an example of the transformation that took place in the art of the Basque Country in the early eighties. CVA was a group formed by the artists Juan Luis Moraza and Marisa Fernandez, which was extremely active during the period 1979-1985 and had a great deal of influence on the artists who subsequently developed their own, highly interesting artistic careers. Based on a reflection upon the limits and codes of the representation of art, their work is full of frames and pedestals, aproduct of the radical reduction of the artistic object to its boundaries. Through the publication of a catalogue and by compiling the small number of documents available, this retrospective exhibition also fills the documentary vacuum with respect to this "artistic company" (as the artists themselves called their group), due to the meagre artistic infrastructures of that time.

ARTIUM, Basque Centre-Museum of Contemporary Art presents the exhibition "The Collection being Context. 1973-1985” (North Gallery, until January 9), a retrospective look at the years that saw a radical transformation in Spanish art and the emergence of new figures and structures. Coinciding with the transition to democracy, the change on the artistic scene was not, however, so much a transformation as a rupture, parallel to similar movements throughout Europe, also accompanied by social and political changes The exhibition produced by ARTIUM and curated by its Permanent Collection Department, documents this period with 60 works by some of the artists who took a leading part at the end of one epoch and the beginning of another in Spanish art.

Artium Museum, presents a third exhibition of the permanent collection entitled Rumbos. La Colección III. (Directions. Collection III). It does so following its initial commitment both, to display its funds in a rotary and temporal basis, and to offer different viewpoints to enrich art consciousness. Resulting from a deep artistic analysis, this new presentation of the permanent collection focus on the notions of voyage, trajectory, direction; that is to say, on the different directions the artists take along their lives to create art. Thus, the exhibition displayed in the southern gallery, presents a selection of artists with two or more works belonging to the museum funds. Being displayed together, these works (first decades of the 20th century until present day) offer the viewer the opportunity to identify the different directions artists have taken in their art creation.
