The committee for the JAI (Jardun Artistikoentzako Institutua / Institute of Artistic Practices) Study Programme, comprising Itziar Okariz, Asier Mendizabal, Ibon Aranberri, Oier Etxeberria and Catalina Lozano, met on 4 April to decide on the group of 16 participants to take part in the 2023 edition of the programme.
The selection criteria for this call were as follows:
- Interest and quality of work presented in dossier.
- Alignment of goals stated by candidates in their presentation to lines of study programme.
A total of 62 applications were submitted.
The final selection also complied with the criteria of parity and comprises a plural and diverse group with regard to various parameters that ultimately determined the composition of the selected group:
- Geographical origin of participants, including a balance between locals and foreigners.
- Intergenerational confluence, thereby making room for professionals of different ages and backgrounds.
- Plurality of languages and disciplines present in contemporary art practices.
The people selected are as follows:
Imanol Abad Martínez, Mikel Adán Tolosa, Ingrid Blix, Mar Cubero, Bruno Delgado Ramo, Alicia Disandolo, Jonathan Escapa Etxaniz, Amaia Ibarbia, Hodei Herreros Rodríguez, Mariem Imán Carames, Ainhoa Gutiérrez del Pozo, Idoia Leache Olagüe, Mayra Alejandra Morán Vásquez, Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger, Jara Roset Camarero and Marta van Tartwijk Crespo.
Tuition and maintenance grants will be awarded to the following persons on the proposal of the committee:
Ingrid Blix, Amaia Ibarbia, Hodei Herreros Rodríguez and Imanol Abad Martínez.
The criteria applied for selecting the grant recipients have been based on evaluating the financial needs of the grant for the selected participant to complete the programme, as well as on reasons of merit or excellence.
