Artist Raisa Álava (Zuaza, 1990) is inaugurating a series of presentations dedicated to practices related to illustration and publishing processes in the museum’s A01 space.
Establishing a dialogue with the iconography and processes of her work, the show brings together graphic and editorial materials – posters, fanzines, notebooks and comics – produced over the last five years.
Through her personal work as well as that developed in various collaborations, Álava establishes a link between lived and imagined experiences. Collective memory and chance processes shape images saturated with information, constructed from forced perspectives and featuring distorted, electric figures.
Her recent collaborations include work for Bloomberg Businessweek, The New Yorker and The New York Times, as well as posters such as those promoting the Tour de France for its 2023 edition and the Azkena Rock Festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Her first full-length comic, Sumidero, was published by AIA Editorial in late 2023.
