Working at Artium

Artium Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art oof the Basque Country, is seeking to hire Chief Curator.

The person we are seeking ideally has a university degree in Art and Humanities, preferably an art historian specialising in Contemporary Art with proven experience of more than five years in a position of similar responsibility in a cultural and/or academic institution of recognised prestige. Specialised training, postgraduate or master’s degree in the functions of the position will be an asset.

An expert knowledge of international contemporary art practices and debates is also required, as is the ability to develop exhibition projects and public programmes within the field of contemporary art, in addition to skills in the field of writing and editing publications. The person must have a strong capacity to establish and promote contacts with international cultural institutions.

A resolute research profile and the capacity to lead people and an aptitude for teamwork. 

Knowledge of the official languages of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country is required to guarantee the correct performance of the position. If this aspect is not accredited, its acquisition will be requested within a period of time. A high level of English is required and knowledge of other languages will be an asset.
