Internacional Museum Day 2026: Museums Uniting a Divided World
International Museum Day is celebrated on 18 May under the auspices of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), an organisation affiliated with UNESCO, dedicated to the promotion and protection of cultural and natural heritage—past, present and future, tangible and intangible—within the museum sector.
On 2026, museums worldwide will mark International Museum Day under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World”. The theme highlights the potential of museums to act as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion and peace within and between communities worldwide.
As part of this, Artium Museoa is organising a programme of activities to take place over the weekend leading up to Monday 18 May.
WORKSHOPS
Hanging Gardens
Workshops open at the museum
In this workshop, we invite you to design a hanging garden. To do this, we’ll create plants, flowers, birds, insects and all the creatures and elements we can imagine finding in a garden.
activity will be divided into two parts: first, we will build the different elements that we will hang from the structure—a net—to unfold and then hang on the walls of the lorategi, the garden of Artium Museoa. In addition, those who have taken part in the recent Sunday Bor-Bor sessions will be able to add to the hanging garden the flowers, birds and insects they have previously made in these workshops.
16 and 17 May, from 11.30 am to 1 pm. Suitable for all ages

AMARAUNA
FLa Fla Fla. Eneka Bordato
Fla Fla Fla is a choreographed piece, a moment of encounter with dance. A dancer and a few objects that have not been chosen at random: 21 white balls, 1 blanket, 1 glass salad bowl and 12 metres of white adhesive tape.
One ball leads to another ball, which follows a trajectory that traces a line, joining another ball, which takes a new direction until the limit is reached.
A deliberate choice to show a great deal with very little: a foot taking a stance, the sound of a ball against glass, the friction of the body on the floor. Something both organic and poetic.
Eneka Bordato trained at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse before joining the Lyon Opera Ballet, where she remained for six years. In 2020, she founded the Dantzalai company.
